This advanced, immersive and hands-on workshop series is designed to take experienced mediators to the next level in their practice.
The training focuses on refining and enhancing mediation skills and knowledge through analysis and reflection on real life case scenarios in a supportive and professional environment. It meets the requirements under the Australian Mediator and Dispute Resolution Accreditation Standards (AMDRAS).
The course comprises of total of 12 hours of workshops, where each participant presents a case and an assessment task based on their case presentation.
Led by facilitators who are AMDRAS accredited advanced mediators, the workshops emphasise advanced techniques in conflict resolution, including managing complex ethical issues, ensuring safety and reducing risk, and working confidently with diversity. Participants receive personalised feedback, helping them identify strengths and areas for growth.
Upon completion, attendees earn a Practicum Certificate, which demonstrates their enhanced expertise and readiness to confidently and professionally respond to more challenging mediation cases.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this workshop, you will have met the requirements for training for registration as an advanced mediator with AMDRAS. You will have improved your capacity to:
- identify practice obstacles and challenges in mediation, and ways of overcoming them
- identify and demonstrate an understanding of the purpose, techniques and skills required for each stage of the mediation process
- be more aware of sociocultural considerations when mediating with diversity including culturally and linguistically diverse communities, First Nations Australians and members of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer Intersex Asexual (LGBTQIA+) communities
- identify and demonstrate the characteristics of a mindful and reflective mediator.

Prerequisites
Prior to acceptance into this workshop, prospective participants will need to provide the following.
- Proof of accreditation under AMDRAS (NMAS) for 4 years. It is suggested that prospective participants provide certificates for 2 recent, consecutive renewal cycles.
- Evidence of completion of at least 150 practice hours. It is suggested prospective students submit either a statement signed by their manager, if employed by an organisation, or, if self-employed on their letterhead explaining their practice hours, signed by them with a statement that the information is true and correct.
About the presenters
Adrien March is a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP) with a broad base of skills and experience, including mediation practice, training and dispute resolution research. Her practice experience covers mediating using facilitative and transformative models in the Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) and Australian Mediator and Dispute Resolution Accreditation Standards (AMDRAS) schemes. Adrien’s specialisations include working with rainbow families and high-conflict disputes. Her training expertise includes course development and conducting FDR and NMAS training, coaching and evaluation for RAV and other organisations.
Cath Tregillis is a highly experienced Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP) with qualifications in dispute resolution and family therapy. She has worked across community organisations as a manager, clinical supervisor and trainer and has provided mediation and restorative processes in family, community and workplace settings. She is currently a trainer and assessor within Relationships Australia Victoria’s (RAVs) Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) and mediation training programs.

- Please email RAV Accredited Training to express interest in enrolling in this training with proof of accreditation under AMDRAS (NMAS) for 4 years (two renewal cycles) and completion of at least 150 practice hours.
- Once your eligibility has been confirmed you will be invoiced for the cost of the training, and you will be added to our Learning Management System where you will find all the related details for the training including a link to attend the live online workshops.
- Registrations close 7 days before the event.
- Workshops must be paid for at least 2 business days before the training date, or your registration will be cancelled.
- If paying by invoice, proof of payment needs to be provided at least 24 hours ahead of the event.
